AI & Work

The Judgment Layer

AI can generate options. Systems can optimize outcomes. But someone still has to make the call.

We are entering an era in which producing an answer is becoming cheap.

That does not mean decisions are becoming easy.

Options are not judgments

AI can summarize a market, draft a plan, compare scenarios, and expose contradictions. But the final decision still depends on context, responsibility, and the willingness to accept consequences.

The scarce layer is no longer access to information. It is judgment under uncertainty.

What changes at work

Organizations that treat AI only as a faster tool will automate fragments of old processes. Organizations that redesign decision rights, data flows, and accountability will build a new operating system.

My current question is not whether AI can do more work. It is whether people can become better judges of the work AI produces.
